I was wondering if there is a way to block Facebook Chat but not the site itself?

Try blocking the following URLs in your firewall that should disable Facebook chat while allowing the rest of the Facebook site to function.

*facebook.com/ajax/chat*
*facebook.com/images/chat*
*facebook.com/ajax/presence*
*.channel*.facebook.com/x/*/false/p_*
