I have a Compaq Presario and it has a 40 gb hard drive i purchased a new 80 gb to replace it however i need to know where to put the jumpers . Or can the new hard driver be installed with the old hard drive ????.

If its you're only hard drive then you will need to set your new drive as the master. If you setting it as a second hard drive then you need to set it for which drive you're going to use it as.

Example :

2 HDD - 40 GB and 80 GB

Using the 40 GB as you're main drive and your 80 GB as a backup / storage drive, then your configuration will be

40 GB - Master Jumper Selected
80 GB - Secondary Master (SM) Selected

or if you're using your 80 GB as your main drive then you want

80 GB - Master Jumper Selected
40 GB - Secondary Master (SM) Selected

If you're just simply replacing the 40 GB with the 80 GB then put the 80 GB as the master and simply remove the 40 GB.
