Recently, I wanted to try out Boost Mobile to see how I like it. I've had Cricket for years and had a lot of customers tell me I should switch over to Boost for a better experience. After first trying Boost iDEN, I learned that while great, the walkie talkie feature was not for me. I don't know many people personally with it outside of my customers and feared having the walkie talkie go off at a bad time. So when I got the chance, I purchased the BlackBerry 8330 for Boost Mobile.
Like many of you, I had a flashed phone on my Cricket service, the Motorola q9m. I always had a problem with picture messaging with Cricket, so it's a feature I never used. I loved the full keyboard and the Internet browsing I had on it. But after a while, I would have problems with the Internet not loading and sometimes having to wait up to 10 minutes before I could go online again. Sometimes I would even have to restart my phone before I could get online or would have to have my account refreshed. It got to be a pain. The Boost BlackBerry 8330 has taken that pain away.
The Internet has been very good as the issues mentioned above have not happened to me at all. While some sites come up small, if it is a mobile site, it comes in clear. One of the other features I love is the fact that I can watch videos on sites like youtube.com without downloading a special software or app. On my Cricket phone the videos were very choppy like I was using dial-up from years ago. But now the video streams with no problem.
This phone does allow you to do instant messaging and update social websites like MySpace and Facebook. But best of all for me, I can store up to 10 e-mail address on my phone and get the e-mails without having to login to my account like I had to before on my q9m. I get an aleart telling me that I have an e-mail and I can click on it and read it or delete it from handheld, and if I chose to, from my inbox. Best of all, this service is free with the phone. Not to mention that the phone is 3G. While I haven't tried it, I have heard you can tether with this phone and it works good also.
I can even download BlackBerry apps and use all of the features and services that I would have if I had a BlackBerry on a contract through another company. The phone itself cost $250.00 plus tax. A steal considering that not to long ago, even older BlackBerry's would have cost you at least $400.00 without a contract. The monthly service for this phone is $60.00 per month. If your state requires sales tax, it will be more for the tax in your area.
Overall, I am very happy with this phone. I was a little nervous at first since I was used to Windows Mobile devices, but I have to say this is the best phone I have ever had. If you have always wanted a BlackBerry but don't want a contract or you would like to try Boost Mobile and don't need the walkie talkie, I would highly recommend this phone to you.
